This is a great activity to reinforce CVC reading and spelling! There are 5 lists (one for each vowel) which contains 12 different words along with 4 examples. This can be used with partners or a small group. Teacher-student lists are a great independent center once you teach the expectations!
How to play:
One student is a “teacher” and the other(s) are the student. The “teacher” tells students the skill they are focusing on, such as short a. The “teacher” then reads one word at a time to the students. The students then say the sounds and write the word. The “teacher” then checks the student’s writing and coaches as needed. Once the word is correct, the “teacher” checks the word on their list and moves on to the next word.
I recommend laminating the cards so they can check the words with a dry erase marker. Plus, the increased durability allows you to use them year after year!
