Revised 6-12-14! These colorful and high-interest teacher cards have pictures to teach 100 Spanish syllables. They can be grouped by vowels or consonants to help students see patterns when reading syllables.
I teach my students to say the picture once, then the syllable once. The goal is that they will be able to say the picture and the syllable on their own, and then eventually the syllable without the picture. This system can be used in combination with teaching the students to blend sounds to read a syllable.
The pictures help the students remember the syllable better, improve their reading fluency, and are self-checking! These cards are especially helpful to struggling learners who have difficulty remembering individual syllables. The cards are color coded to help students differentiate between the vowel sounds.
You can choose from one of the following types of borders: sparkly with straight edges, polka dot with straight edges, or polka dot with curved edges (2 cards on a page, 50 pages).
Labels to glue or stick on the back of the cards (Avery label Template 5163, ten on a page) are also included.
You need to extract the zip file and need Adobe X Reader (free on the internet) to gain access to the materials.
