Teacher Vocabulary: Using Social Learning to Introduce New Words

Loading...
Teaching new vocabulary words is hard, especially in the ESL / EFL classroom.

You need to make sure students get the meaning right from the beginning. But just telling them or having them just read the definition in the book is boring. And not memorable.

In this video, I'll talk about my Social Learning Vocabulary worksheet that gets students teaching each other new words. It also provides a chance to reflect on the word before they get the definition. That means they're more likely to remember the word later on. Finally, by having students help each other learn, you're teaching them the value of their classmates.
