Description

This resource includes 12 of Aesop's fables with reading comprehension questions and activities. The comprehension activities require students to summarize the fables, compare and contrast fables, examine character traits of the characters, determine morals / central message of the fables and analyze their importance, and more.

These activities are self-explanatory and could be completed by students independently in a distance learning packet.

The fable reading passages included in this resource are:

-The Heron

-The Lion and the Mouse

-The Mother and the Wolf

-The Tortoise and the Hare

-The Fox and the Crow

-The Dog and His Reflection

-The Crow and the Pitcher

-The Dove and the Ant

-The Two Frogs

-The Young Crab and His Mother

-The Boy and the Hazelnuts

-The Boy Who Cried Wolf

All of these stories are generally attributed to Aesop (Aesop's fables).

The activities included in this resource can be used over and over again with each of the fables, making this a fun fables center activity. This resource can also be used as a mini lesson following the "I do, We Do, You Do" format, or it can be used for homework or extra practice with 3rd grade or 4th grade students.

The comprehension activities get increasingly more difficult to help you differentiate the activities. The more difficult activities require students to compare and contrast 2 or more fables.

The activities are all open-ended with more than one right answer, so no answer key has been provided. A rubric has been provided to make grading easier for you.

The preview shows everything that is included in this resource.
