I find that teaching analogies is very important for middle school aged students and beyond. Analogies teach students how to make sense of patterns and relationships amongst words. It also helps to improve their vocabulary skills and reasoning logic. I know that my background knowledge of analogies greatly helped me on the MAT. This assignment is intended for students to take 2-column notes on their interactive notebooks. It begins with a list of various types of analogies. The next age features three links to online worksheets for students to practice completing analogies. I plan to use this as a bell-ringer on certain days of the week in my 8th grade classroom.
