An activity designed to teach annotation in a manageable way to 7-12 English Language Arts students. Using quick terminology and a symbol system, students will learn to analyze difficult texts, using tricks to absorb reading better. State testing, which requires students to tackle difficult pieces of texts in an effective way, do not allow for a lot of time. This activity will teach students to read things quickly, but absorb slowly, highlighting the most important information. It contains TWO separate activities for practice. Both are current speeches that students will be required to annotate.
