This social story teaches the basic concept of what body language is and why we need to understand and know it. It is broken down into very concrete language with lots of great example pictures and fun gifs! Common body language signals are defined. At the end is a data sheet for you practice the signals with your student. I use this for the IEP goal tracking. Usually, I do the lesson, model the skill and then have my student imitate me and make any corrections (there are usually a lot). Using a mirror helps. Then I do them and have the student guess. Next I ask the student to perform. Don’t forget this skill in all your social skills and emotional regulation skills! It’s a foundation skill.
