Money has always been a difficult area for my Kindergarten students. They easily
recognize the different coins but remembering their names and amounts is difficult.
I created this booklet for the students to make as we learned about each of the different coins to help them remember more about the coins. It includes a picture of the real coin, a black-outline for them to color the correct coin color, the monetary amount of the coin, and the poem that we learn about the coin.
I have included two copies of the booklet, one with lines on all pages for making a booklet with separate pages and one with lines on only half of the pages for making a booklet copied front-to-back. For the best quality booklets should be printed in color but can be copied in black and white also. I have used both with my students.
The book covers the following coins: Penny, Nickel, Dime, Quarter, and Dollar. (We study the dollar bill instead of the coin and we do not cover the fifty-cent piece.)
After creating these booklets they provide a simple way of gathering feedback and assessing students.I have included a couple of my favorite activities to use these books for.
