Product Description
Do you want your students to be more creative, but you just don’t know how to TEACH them to be creative?

Use this unit to get their creative juices flowing! Show them four simple strategies - fluency, flexibility, elaboration, and originality - that will help them be creative in literally ANY situation! While this unit was created for a writing workshop classroom, and can be modified and used for any classroom, even those of you that aren’t teaching writing!

So, how do you get your students to believe that they too can be creative? After a week of exploring the real meaning of creativity and the four strategies for creative thinking, this unit leads the class through targeted practice in each of the strategies. Each lesson includes a quick creative warm-up and a lesson or additional focused creative activity. Many of these activities double as group work!

A week of focused attention on feedback and various feedback strategies will also equip your students with the means to respond to and help their peers in their quest for creativity.

In six weeks {or less if you so choose!} you will not only feel like your students understand what it means to be creative, but you yourself will feel more comfortable with gaging the level of creativity put forth by each of them. This unit provides a concrete understanding of what it means to be creative, removing all of the guesswork for both students and teachers!

This unit includes:
- 30-lesson Unit Plan
- 140-slide PowerPoint Presentation for lessons and activities
- 10+ PDF activity sheets for all creative activities and challenges
- 4 Sign Sets to create helpful bulletin boards and anchor charts
- Pre- and Post- Assessments
- Reflection exit tickets to track the thinking and understanding of your students
- Flexibility to be used as a 6-week unit, or simply as creative activities and lessons sprinkled throughout the year
