Preparing students today to function successfully in the workplace of tomorrow is a BIG challenge. Research tells us that we will be more successful if we can actively engage students in their own learning. As we prepare students for the 21st century work force, we must question them at a deeper level. Helping students learn how to take critical notes is an important stepping stone in helping them learn to think critically and solve problems.
This note-taking tutorial is intended to get students thinking and problem solving. Remember, it is okay for students to struggle. We all struggle with life’s problems and therefore this is good preparation for real life! As always, MODEL, MODEL, MODEL!
This type of learning serves as a gateway for students to use real world thinking and skills as they: investigate, organize thinking, report findings, and share what they have discovered.
