We all know that standardized testing is simultaneously aggravating, important and stress-inducing for teachers and students alike.
Instead of allowing students to stress about our CCSS reading test, we decided to add a fun twist, all while teaching about persuasive techniques.
We used this week-long packet to have students utilize persuasive techniques, create a commercial script and a commercial storyboard. The commercials' goal? To persuade students that our state tests were really important!
As a class, we chose the best ideas and made two real commercials after school. Students loved the process, they learned a lot, and they were able to apply the content we were teaching!
