Learning Objective

After reading five scripts aloud within a small group, students will identify the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution for each.

This resource contains five original short stories written as readers' theater scripts. After students read each script with their small group, they are given the task of identifying the five plot elements for each story (introduction/exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and conclusion/resolution).

Each script is written for five readers, and is exactly two pages. (The two pages can be printed on the front and back of one sheet of paper.) Three genres are included in this set: realistic fiction, science fiction, and historical fiction. Answer keys are included.
