Teaching Reading Comprehension Strategies - Visualizing

- PDF

What educators are saying
Description
Visualizing is an important reading comprehension skill. Use these two different hands-on activities to implicitly teach the skill of visualizing.
One activity included allows children to become more aware of the layering of ideas and understanding that occur as we are reading and how that can change as more information is gathered while reading.
This task has children guessing 'What I am?' a clue at a time. With more than 30 different drawing prompts included along with the drawing template, this activity can be repeated many times.
Another activity looks that the importance a title plays in creating a visual in our minds ahead of reading. Choose from 20 different titles as drawing prompts. Two different drawing templates have been provided.
Here's what's included -
- 48 different 'What Am I?' cards included each with a real life photo and 3 stepped clues - 24 per A4 page
- 'What Am I?' drawing template provided to match along with teaching instructions
- 20 different story titles as visual prompts
- 2 different 'What's In A Name?' drawing templates provided

How can I earn TPT credits to use on future purchases?
Please go to your My Purchases page (you may need to login). Beside each purchase you'll see a Provide Feedback button. Simply click it and you will be taken to a page where you can give a quick rating and leave a short comment for the product. Each time you give feedback, TPT gives you feedback credits that you use to lower the cost of your future purchases. I value your feedback greatly as it helps me improve current (and future) products to best meet your needs.
Take a look at the preview photos and preview file (if available - not available on all products) before purchasing. I also recommend asking questions before purchasing if you are uncertain of anything.
