Product Description
Using short stories and passages is most effective in teaching students core reading strategies and skills. A Fable is a short story, typically with animals as characters, conveying a moral. Fables have always held a special place in the young reader’s journey because these short stories help children make sense of the world around them. The characters in fables are interesting and intriguing which keeps the reader entertain. Fables contain a clear setting and an enticing conflict which always grabs a reader’s attention. The stories develop quickly, and often obstacles seem hard to conquer, but in the end, everything is resolved to satisfaction.

I am choosing Arnold Lobel’s book of Fables to teach and model reading strategies and skills. These short stories will be excellent in allowing students to learn, practice and reinforce the skills and strategies necessary for solid reading comprehension and fluency.
