This activity is a creative writing activity done with an entire class at the same time. It is based on Ernest Hemingway's six-word short story, "For sale: baby shoes, never worn." As the students come across an example of a very short story, they attempt to describe a setting that would go with it. When they come across an image representing a setting, they try to write a very short story to accompany that image. After the teacher has given the student about 2-3 minutes per slide, the teacher can ask volunteers to share what they wrote. The purpose is not only to have students think creatively through a writing exercise, but also to examine the role setting can play within a story.
