Do you use Creative Curriculum’s Teaching Strategies Gold in your classroom? After using it for the past 6 years, I have found each year, as I approached a new curriculum, I was scrambling to come up with the materials I would need for each unit. With this set, you won’t have to! Utilizing this set in your classroom, you will have all of the materials necessary to create an Anchor Chart reflecting the “Recycling” unit. This downloadable set includes the TSG Anchor Chart topics of:
- What do we know about reducing, reusing, and recycling? What do we want to find out?
- What do people throw away?
- Where does trash go? What do workers do there?
- How do trash and garbage affect our community?
- How can we reuse junk?
- How can we make less trash?
Each topic features child-friendly picture cards to correspond with each topic, prompting active teacher-student discussion and interaction. Exploring each topic, students can share what they know about Recycling in a way that makes sense to them, with topic questions and visual aides that are targeted towards young visual learners. Additionally in this set are options to extend their learning, including Sorting and Labeling activities for Recyclable and Non-Recyclable material.
To best use this set, print, laminate, and cut. I prefer to add a small magnet piece to the back of each item, so that I can use it with my students on our white board. The pictures used in this set are surrounded by a black square, and are the perfect size for young children to utilize themselves, with guidance. While this set is designed around the TSG curriculum, the opportunities for use are endless!
In addition, this “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” unit features an additional "Ideas to Celebrate Learning" at the end of the set, including ideas that I have used in the past with my students, as well as pictures of my students' RRR work from our classroom!
