This resource is designed to help students correctly associate the literary concepts of theme and symbolism through an interactive, visual activity. I enjoy displaying these images around the classroom and giving students extended time to view and analyze each piece of artwork when I teach this lesson. The resources can be used in many different variations including independent pratice, small group, and socratic seminar style.
Included within the resources are a brief set of notes about theme and its relationship to uses of symbolism. It also includes 5 pieces of thought-provoking pieces of street art which are the subject of student visual analysis. In the past, I've enjoyed finding pieces of artwork that can relate deeply to student texts in order to prime by kids for further instruction.
A free set of guided CLOZE notes can also be found in my store. Additional free resources can be found on my classroom blog: mrmarossi.com
