I'm preparing to implement McGraw Hill's Wonders next year, and I'm creating visuals (presentations, posters, handouts, etc) to go with the Smart Start lessons.
This includes a presentation that introduces Collaborative Conversations as a necessary component of teamwork. It then defines the speaking and listening goals they should be working on throughout the year during these conversations. Finally, students have an opportunity to practice collaborative conversations by discussing 8 teamwork quotes in a group, then selecting one to share with the class, and explain why they chose it.
As a first attempt at collaborative conversations, I recommend taking notes during this activity, and sharing with the class some good things you noticed (and perhaps not so good) while you observed.
* 10 slide presentation in Keynote, PPT, and Quicktime versions.
