Teaching Thanksgiving Through Picture Books- Mini Unit

Description

Use four picture books to teach students about Thanksgiving from English and Native American perspectives.

Read the commonly told story of the Pilgrims voyage and meal with Native Americans. Then read a book that tells the story of the first Thanksgiving through the perspective of a Wampanoag boy and an English boy.

Then learn about the tradition of giving thanks in Mohawk and Cherokee tribes.
