Kids love anime! It's audience has grown in popularity over the years, so why not show them what they like, and teach them at the same time?

This unit is designed to coordinate with Violet Evergarden, an anime series available on Netflix, which currently has one season of thirteen episodes (There is an additional special episode, which is not included in this unit.)

This unit comes with a series of activities, and is designed to last approximately three weeks in class. The unit covers setting, character traits, character development, several discussions, guiding questions for each episode, a poetry analysis activity, and a Socratic seminar.

Be advised on two fronts: The first is that Violet Evergarden is rated TV-14 (Violence, occasional profanity, consumption of alcohol, and two instances of adult references.) The second is for anyone who hasn't seen it. IF you plan to teach it, watch it before the kids do because it is a guaranteed tear jerker. In other words YOU WILL CRY if you're not ready for it.

This unit includes answer keys, and hits over thirty Common Core Standards in total! Each episode is approximately 25 minutes in length, so there is time each day for other activities.

Hope you like it :)
