Writing and punctuating dialogue is tricky--but if we model and let students get creative, they can be very motivated to be successful! Check out why these writing task cards are so effective for teaching dialogue.

I wanted a way to engage my students in how to read and write dialogue and to see the power characters’ words can have. I wanted them to be able to get practice with punctuating and writing dialogue WITHOUT using boring practice sheets—and with doing “real writing”.

I also really wanted to be able to tie this to critical reading and have my students study the dialogue that real authors use and notice the “mood” created with good dialogue, so I used these cards as a springboard for that as well. My students just loved using them, and I hope yours do as well...and now I have created this "Google Edition" resource so you can do it all using technology!

The resource contains actual photos of the resource in action, suggestions for use, 24 task cards in full color as well as a blank card so you and your students can write your own!

Download the preview to learn more about this resource and how you would be able to use it with YOUR students--and how to use it digitally! Directions to print the cards to turn them into perfect task cards are also included. Reproducible recording sheets are included as part of the teacher directions. Directions for how to use "One Drive" are also included.
