Theme: “Teaching as a Profession”
Course: Education Professions, EDUC 101, or any education foundations course.
Grade: 11-12 High School, First Year College
With this package, you are going to get three components to act as the basis for the Teaching as a Profession theme, or enhance what you are already doing. You are getting a a vocab quiz, an infographic reading assignment, and a bulletin board project for the students to do to tie it all together. Here it is in detail:
Teaching as a Profession Infographic Wksht
Your students will be able to learn more about the field of teaching by reading on online infographic and demonstrate their comprehension with this handy worksheet that includes:
-True/False questions about various teaching profession facts
-Open ended response that allows them to be reflective on their reading
-Open ended response that has them identify author’s purpose and intended audience
Create a Bulletin Board about the Teaching Profession (Project)
This project is designed to demonstrate their understanding of the teaching profession in terms of employment trends, why people teach, what makes an effective teacher, a typical day of teaching, and the rewards and challenges. Essentially, it is an informational board that would spark someone's interest in the education career field. This handout outlines the project objectives, directions, resources to be used, and the Point Value and Breakdown (55 pts). It’s a great two day culminating project that allows students to demonstrate their new knowledge and be creative at the same time.
