Students have trouble integrating anecdotes within their expository and persusiave writing. They tend to just "tell the whole story" and forget about the genre they are writing. Barbara Kingsolver however is the master of weaving personal stories in with her non-fiction writing. Students will read and analyze "Going to Japan" in this self-paced lesson. Along the way, they will learn about the anecdotes and theme. Finally, they will try their hand at it using some writing techniques.
