This lesson involves a shared reading in which students read an interactive online story, and are prompted to use critical thinking and discussion to infer the solution to a mystery. As with many of my lessons, it begins with a short puppet skit in which the students have to use details to solve the mystery. This engages them in the thinking they will need to do during and after the lesson. I also included links to printable mysteries for group/individual work, and well as two that are already set up for you to copy and hand out. Feel free to alter the lesson according to the needs of your students. The lesson can be done in one day, or two if time is an issue. The standards for third and fourth grade are included.
