Make the most of your TOOB® figures with these activities from the “Teaching with TOOBS” collection.
This set uses 10 figures** from the IN THE WOODS TOOB— black snake, bald eagle, fawn, raccoon, beaver, bullfrog, grasshopper, elk, butterfly, and black bear— and includes the following resources:
- The MONTESSORI MATCHING MAT builds sorting and classifying skills, vocabulary, and knowledge of the Forest biome.
-The ROLL AND COVER ADDITION GAME makes learning addition fun. Just add a set of dice and let children roll their way to mastery. Children roll the dice, add the two numbers together, and then cover the sum with the matching TOOB figure.
-Play multiple games with the 3-PART GAME CARDS.
-Use the ANIMAL CLASSES GRAPHING MAT to sort figures by their class—amphibian, bird, fish, insect, mammal, or reptile—and to introduce beginning graphing skills.
-Add language to the Science Center with TWO SPELLING PUZZLES, featuring a bullfrog and a raccoon.
Technical info: The files are in PDF format, combined into a single zip drive. The images are high-resolution photographs. For best results, duplicate the activities on cardstock, photo, or similar heavy paper; and laminate.
NOTE: The In the Woods set contains an American bison figure, which I have not used; since bison are native to the Great Plains grasslands (not the forest).
P.S.-If you’re not familiar with Safari TOOBS, I’ve included “What, Why, and Where to Buy” information in the preview.
