Use these author cards as an icebreaker and team builder activity at the beginning of the school year. Much like the classic “21 Questions Game,” students walk around the classroom asking one another questions in order to use deductive reasoning and guess the authors on the cards on their backs. Each card has information on the authors to help students respond to the questions. This activity is great for getting students engaged in their learning and for creating a positive classroom climate.
The activity includes a selection of 32 diverse authors and blank cards that can be made for additional desired authors. The following authors are included (in color and black & white):
F. Scott Fitzgerald
Zora Neal Hurston
Henry David Thoreau
Walter Dean Myers
This 24-page resource includes teacher instructions, student handouts, author list, author cards, and blank cards.
