Dr. Sigma's Synergy Activities are exercises that promote team-building, cooperation and consensus building. Synergy - Titanic Dilemma Activity is an exercise that involves determining, as a group, the individuals who will be given a chance to get in a life raft upon the sinking of a ship. The life raft has seats for only fifteen individuals. There are up to twenty-four (this can be adjusted) individuals who would need to get on the life raft in order to survive. If issues with the life raft arise, individuals will be thrown overboard according to their designated priority.
There are a number of ways in which this activity can be implemented. For younger students, the number of potential survivors can be liimited to fifteen and the discussion focused on the priority of their occupations. For more complicated discussions, up to twenty-four individuals can be included as potential survivors and more controversial discussions can be had regarding gender, age, race and morality.
This activity can be used for students in late elementary, middle school, high school and adult learning programs. .
