Want to create excitement about science? If your answer is yes, then this experiment is a "MUST!"
I use a seemingly simple styrofoam cup (it has magic powder in it, but the kids don't know that). I tip the cup at a 45 degree angle and quickly walk around so they can see the "empty" cup. I then call up two students. Student #1 gets to hold the cup over his head while Student #2 puts a teaspoon of water in the cup everytime I tell him too.
I discuss learning, teamwork and the 6 Cs. What are the 6 Cs you might be wondering? Here they are:
You end by having student #2 taking the cup and turning it upside down on student #1's head. [NO WATER FALLS OUT]. Then you promise to show the students the trick the next day during science time, and let them actually do the experiment. The kids go home talking about science and you get a ton of brownie points from the parents.
This product includes:
- A step-by-step PowerPoint to explain the magic trick
-Student work-sheets for the experiment
-Posters to include more students in the magic trick.
This is a digital product, so you will need to order the magic powder at Steve Spangler Science ~ Steve Spangler's Magic Powder ~ Polymer Kit
