Product Description
When we say the word teasing, hurt feelings come to mind. We think of kids being mean to each other and an imbalance of power. However, not all teasing is bad or meant to hurt. Think of when we poke fun at our dear friends and they laugh along with us. It is still teasing, but if it is done amongst friends, more often than not it is meant to be playful and feelings are left unharmed.

The key difference is if we are laughing AT someone or WITH someone. Laughing AT someone is mean teasing. It makes others feel small and can ruin their day. Laughing WITH someone is friendly teasing. This is done between people who care about one another and is not meant to hurt. This resource is designed to teach students the difference between laughing AT and laughing WITH.

There is a gray area though. Sometimes we say things meant as a friendly tease without realizing that we are hurting someone's feelings. What we say can have powerful affects depending on how it is said and how the person takes it. It is our job to show kids just how powerful their words can be. This resource does just that.

Included in this download are:
▪Two Worksheets
▪ Mirror Test Poster
▪ Mean Tease Explanation Poster
▪ Playful Tease Explanation Poster

Use these materials to help teach students how to recognize the difference between mean and friendly teases, as well as realize how powerful their words can be.
