Want to use technology to get your students excited to learn but still keep paper and pencil at the heart of your instruction? You need to replace your centers with Playlists. Attached you will find a sheet for how to make playlists run smoothly(an attached schedule), ideas for guided reading and writing, and 2 playlists for the independent centers.
QR codes link kids up to fun videos, games, quizzes, etc. Students who learn by seeing and hearing will love this aspect. There are also learn by making choices on these playlists. Students will choose 2/4 playlist items to complete. They will take a diagnostic to gage their understanding of the items. If they pass with an 80 or above, they can move on to the extension activity. If they need more help, they will complete the other 2 items on the playlist.
If students make it to the extension activity AKA the write to win, students will earn a ticket for their submission. One ticket will be drawn each week to earn a prize.
