Texting, chatting, tweeting - all of these are common in the lives of our students on a regular basis. This resource - Tech Savvy - taps into student interest in today’s technology that is a form of literacy our students are skilled at using. Unfortunately, they often must leave at the door when they enter the classroom. Understandably, schools and districts have developed policies to guide and in some cases restrict the student use of personal technology devices in the classroom. In addition, all schools and students are not fortunate enough to have access to personal devices or reliable internet service to make lessons dependent on the use of technology devices practical on a daily basis. For this reason, most of the lessons included, while based on technologies students are familiar and comfortable with, do not require a technology device, but rely on student familiarity with apps and social media formats they find comfortable.
