Product Description
The Complete Techniques of No Unit includes 5 Lessons, with student worksheets teacher answers, and resource information sheets. All lessons meet the National Health Standard and have clearly defined Daily Learning Targets/Objectives. Each lesson can be used for grades 7-12, and Homeschoolers. The Unit is designed to take 5 to 6 days to complete (Classes are 55 minutes).

Saying NO nicely, quietly, effectively, peacefully is a skill of graciousness. It never hurts us to be gracious. People create circumstances that are good or bad, and we have to deal with people and their circumstances as we go through life. The purpose of the Techniques of NO Lessons is to assist students to become skillful in relating to both people and circumstances so that they can make a success out of their life.

Lesson One in the Techniques of NO Unit includes these Learning Topics:
Students will learn how to say NO to friends and feel good about it, while still maintaining the relationship and their cool factor.
Students will learn from reading the information sheet on the Techniques of NO, and applying the techniques in a variety of situations
Students will be assessed by participation in class discussion and a completed student worksheet.

Lesson Two in the Techniques of NO Unit Includes these Learning Topics (This unit does Include some resource materials from Lesson 1):
Students will demonstrate refusal skills that avoid health risks.
Students will do this by effectively completing the No Technique dialogue format.
Students will be assessed by their ability to effectively respond using the 10 NO techniques, I-Messages and YES NO YES statements.

Lesson Three in the Techniques of NO Unit includes these Learning Topics (This unit does Include some resource materials from Lesson 2:
Students will learn how to communicate an I-Message with Assertiveness Skills.
Students will accomplish this by acting out I-Messages imitating Passive, Aggressive or Assertive responses.
Students will be assessed by class members accurately determining which method of communication is being used.

Lesson Three in the Techniques of NO Unit includes these Learning Topics (This unit does include some resource materials from Lesson 2:
Students will learn how to communicate an I-Message with Assertiveness Skills.
Students will accomplish this by acting out I-Messages imitating Passive, Aggressive or Assertive responses. The students will use the I-Messages they created during Lesson 2.
Students will be assessed by their ability to accurately communicate an assertive method of communication. (Students already know how to communicate passive and aggressive responses).

Lesson Four in the Techniques of NO Unit Includes the Learning Topics (This unit does include some resource materials from Lesson 2):
Students will demonstrate proficiency in writing an I-Message and YES NO YES Statements specific to a variety of situations.
Students will do this by writing I-Messages and YES NO YES Statements for 4 situations.
Students will be assessed by their ability to follow the I-Message and the YES NO YES format.

Lesson Five in the Techniques of NO Unit includes these Learning Topics (This unit does include some resource materials from Lesson 2 and Lesson Three):
Students will learn the process of decision making.
Students will do this by identifying the problem, create and evaluate the outcome of each option, choose the best option, then formulate appropriate I-Messages.
Students will be assessed by quality of work on worksheet.
