Now, more than ever, our students must be capable of completing their work remotely in digital formats. While a few of our students are undoubtedly experts in “all things computer”, many of our students are not experienced in using Google Apps. This activity will provide your students with a solid foundation and/or review of the basics of Google Slides, Google Docs, and Google Sheets. While this activity is geared to beginner users of Google Apps, it will provide your more advanced users a solid review and reinforcement of Google skills.
This resource is perfect for traditional classrooms, distance learning, and for students in 1:1 classrooms.
What is included in this resource?
- 9-page Google Slides activity for students
- 8-page Teacher Guide and Answer Key for Technology Chat
- 6-page Teacher Guide to Google Apps
What is the purpose of this activity?
This chat activity is a bit of a departure from the format of my other Chat activities. This activity does not consist of a set of rotating lab stations, but it is an excellent activity to complete in small groups. Students will work together to explore the world of Google Apps so that they will be prepared to work in the digital realm throughout the school year. I use the word “chat” to emphasize to my students that they are to work together and have productive discussions in order to maximize their understanding and mastery of the concepts being covered.
Students will learn/review the following skills:
Google Slides (for creating and sharing presentations)
- Typing in text boxes
