I LUV technology in the classroom as a big motivator for my kiddos, but it can most definitely present a variety of organizational challenges from a classroom management perspective.
So here's my solution... I created this handy-dandy clothespin clip chart with a field for each separate technology.
I'll use math workshop as an example... After the mini-lesson, I call my guided math group over to my table and then have the "tech manager" call out technology.
He first moves the Kindle clip and calls out the numbers, "Kindles - 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.) Then he announces, "Computers - 16, 17, 18, 19, 20"... and so on.
After tech students are all in place, I dismiss the remaining students to work on either "buddy math" or "math by myself."
It's a smooth process that results in very little time-off-task for my mathematicians.
I hope it makes technology a little easier to coordinate in YOUR classroom, too!
Wishing you all the best -
