This resource about Tecumseh includes reading passages, comprehension and opinion questions, vocabulary work, and a quiz. It can be used in a social studies or ELA class.
--- 5 informational texts that can be used one at a time or two or more at time: they could be assigned in class over 1-5 days (or all at once!) as homework assignments, an independent projects, etc.
Each of the biographical passages has questions or discussion points on the right side of the page; they can therefore be used in class as bellringer activities. Each one has a “Language Use” activity or a short writing assignment. Part 5 of the informational texts is longer, and only has one activity following it (there is no answer key for Part 5 as the writing assignment is subjective);
--- a quiz in three sections; it could be given at one time or split into two or three sessions;
--- rounding out the resource is a writing assignment which asks the students to take two points of view and write a persuasive/opinion paragraph for each one. Class discussion of the two points of view would be a great way to allow the students to brainstorm before they write.
--- Answer Key included.
I also have a similar product, although presented in a different format for students in grades 4-6:Tecumseh His Life and Times
A strong grade 6 may find 5 Days with Tecumseh more to their level; it would be more challenging.
This unit is aligned to the Ontario curriculum (grade 7 Social Studies, History) and also Common Core aligned for Grades 6-8 Social Studies (standards for grade 7 are included in the preview/product).
I have many other biographical resources in my store, below is just a sampling!
