Product Description
I get a bit snarky on this one, but it's all in fun (sort of). This document--that make a great handout or poster--translates teenagers' most common literary comments into more honest insights. Uploaded in Word in case you want to tone down the tone a bit. Enjoy! Hawk form a Handsaw. Here is the text:

A Translation of Student Literary Criticism

“This book is boring,” means “I am struggling to understand subtlety and nuance.”

“This book is slow,” means “I am struggling to be patient and aware.”

“This is so random,” means “ I am failing to see connections.”

“Why would anyone do that?” means “I am failing to understand the complex motivations of characters.”

“This is stupid,” means “I don’t understand.”

“‘Tis the good reader that makes the good book…” Emerson
