Looking for an interactive way for students to use text based evidence? Use this activity.
This is a two page worksheet that has students use textual evidence to show whether the narrator of the story is sane or insane. After choosing their claim, they have to find two passages to support it.
Then they must find one example that an an opponent could use against them as a counterclaim. After that, they write their refutation with textual evidence as well.
After they have completed the worksheet, the rest is up to you. I put them in small groups and have them debate one another. After watching, I have the most passionate ones from each side debate from their desks. They get so into it!
If you have any questions, let me know! You can see the entire worksheet in the thumbnails.
