Great way to get students speaking!
1. In pairs, students sit across from one another and then put up a divider between them (so they cannot see each others desks/boards)
2. Distribute a battleship board to each student
3. Instruct students to draw their "ships" on their own boards (the upper board). Ships can vary per class period depending on how much time you have. I often have students draw 5 ships total. 1 ship of 5 spaces, 1 ship of 4 spaces, 2 ships of 3 spaces and 1 ship of just 2 spaces.
4. Students take turns guessing "spaces" on their partners board. The goal is to locate where their partners ships are and sink the ship. The first partner to sink all of their opponents ships is the winner. In order to accurately guess spaces, they combine the information on the left hand said in the target language (It's 2'Oclock = Son las dos... and then the minutes in the row at the top)
