-Tell the time on Digital and Analog Clock worksheets (3)
-Roll the time recording sheet for a math center.
-Build a clock activity sheet.
-Time’s Up Math Game for a math center
I am using this mega unit with a few groups of 1st graders but could it could also be use to introduce time in Kindergarten or to review in 2nd grade.
The worksheets can be used as morning work or an exit ticket after a lesson on telling time. I use the Roll the Time recording sheet and the Time’s Up game as math centers. If your class is very responsible you could also use bingo as a center and have it be student led.
The build a clock activity is used on the first day of the time unit. I also use a paper plate craft which you can find on my Pinterest page that is linked on my blog. I use the simple one first because I think the first day becomes overwhelming with a large project. This allows the students to be hands on and manipulate a clock. I then save this clock for the students to refer back to for the remainder of the unit. I am even thinking about making a bulletin board with our clocks. Have each student choose a different time. Label the times with a digital clock below, and the bulletin board becomes a resource to all the students for the remainder of the unit.
