These telling time puzzles are a fun, hands-on way for your students to practice telling time and using related vocabulary. They are perfect for a math center or early finisher activity!
Three sets of twenty puzzles are included. Use them to differentiate your centers or at different points in your unit. You can also combine sets for mixed practice.
The first set, featuring yellow clocks, requires students to tell time to the hour and half hour. The phrases “o’clock” and “half past” are included.
The second set, featuring blue clocks, requires students to tell time in 15 minute intervals. Phrases include those mentioned in the yellow set along with “quarter to”, “quarter past”, “quarter of”, and “quarter after”.
The third set of puzzles features red clocks and requires students to tell time in five minute intervals. Additional vocabulary includes “five after”, “ten past”, and similar phrases.
These puzzles are easy to make self-checking. Simply place small dots of the same color or matching stickers on the backs of each complete set before laminating and cutting out the puzzles. Students can simply flip over the pieces to check their work.
These puzzles can be used to help address the following Common Core Standards:
