Description

This unit is designed to help you supplement teaching time to your students to ensure they master this essential skill. This unit covers both digital and analog clocks and covers telling time to the nearest five minutes.

The specific printables and activities you will find in this unit include:

  • Telling Time Self-Assessment – Have students the pre-assessment prior to beginning your time unit and the post-assessment after.
  • Telling Time Posters – Three posters are provided to cover the basics of telling time with an analog clock. Display the posters as a classroom resource or provide as informational handouts to students for their reference.
  • A.M. or P.M.? – Students record whether each clock and description occurs during the a.m. or the p.m.
  • What Do You Do? – Students describe what they do for each of the times shown on the clocks.
  • Telling Time: Analog Clock – Students record the information provided by the clock and use it to write the correct digital time.
  • Analog -> Digital Time – Students record the digital time to match each analog clock. Two versions provided.
  • Digital -> Analog Time – Students draw the analog clock hands to match each digital clock. Two versions provided.
  • What’s the True Time? – Students check whether the statement for each clock is true or false. If they decide it’s false, they must write the correct time.
  • What Time Will It Be? – Students use the information provided by each analog clock to determine what the time will be after the elapsed time.
  • How Many Times? – Students work with partners to estimate, then record the number of times they can do each activity in the given times. Two versions provided – one for partners and one for groups of three.
  • How Long Does It Take? – Students work with partners to estimate (and then time with stopwatches) how long it will take them to complete each task. Two versions provided – one for partners and one for groups of three.
  • What Time Is It?– Students match the digital times, analog clocks, and written time then record the information on the recording sheet. Two versions included.
