Do your students need some extra practice telling time with analog clocks? Try these task cards that review telling time to the nearest 5 minutes for second grade students. These 32 (+ 4 bonus) task cards cover the 2.MD.7 standard: tell and write time from analog and digital clocks to the nearest five minutes, using a.m. and p.m.
The first 32 task cards contain one multiple choice question each, while the four bonus cards contain questions where students have to calculate and record the correct time. These task cards are created to help students fluently tell time with analog clocks. Task cards 1-32 require students to identify the correct digital time to match the analog clock. For task cards 17-32, students must also identify whether it is a.m. or p.m.
These task cards can be used:
As a group activity: Post the cards around your room and allow students to move around, completing the questions on the provided recording sheet or project the cards, one at a time, on your SMART Board and allow students to show their answers by holding up a whiteboard.
As a small group or individual activity: Keep the task cards in a math center for independent practice.
Two recording sheets are provided. The first provides space for all 36 task card answers. Students can use the space provided to record the letter of the correct answer for each task card. The second recording sheet provides space for 18 answers. This sheet can be provided for students to complete a smaller selection of cards. For the second recording sheet, students must record the number of the task cards they complete.
**Task cards are provided in two versions - color and black & white**
