Common Core Standard: 7.NS.1 (primary), 7.NS.3 (secondary) (and others)

Materials: List of U.S. State Temperature Extremes (see below), Almanac or Google Earth

Student Learning Goals:

(1) Students will be able to discover how to subtract integers.

(2) Students will be able to use number lines to show how far apart integers are.

(3) Students will be able to solve real-world problems with integers using addition and subtraction.
