After going to a couple of AP workshops and Social Studies writing workshops, I formed this acronym for writing a thesis. I have used this method of thesis writing with my students (all levels and abilities) for three years. It is a simple way to write a concise, one sentence thesis. It is easy to remember. It takes a couple of tries for the students to get it, but then it sticks. I allow them to choose the wording and order of the first part of the thesis as long as they still include all of the four parts. I have even had students go on to college who still use the format and say it works great for them.
R = Region of the world
A = what is the question About? (prompt)
P3 = Prove it in 3 ways

OR In early 20th century Europe, the underlying causes...
