I have a PhD in Hebrew Bible. This worksheet contains my own translations of the Ten Commandments in both Exodus and Deuteronomy. The arrangement facilitates a comparison and contrast of these two versions of the Decalogue. The bold text represents imperative verbs. The hanging indents represent units of thought. I have only subordinated imperative verbs under other imperative verbs where grammar or logic requires this move. This translation does not privilege any of the different numbering systems for the Decalogue, allowing the students to evaluate for themselves the best numerical system. The translation also includes transliterations of Hebrew words (in parentheses) where relevant to making key-word associations elsewhere in the document.
