So much more fun than a plain old ten frame! Transport Ten Frame Mats and Games are engaging and fun to use in the classroom. Let your children decide their theme and where they will drive or fly to during your Maths lessons. Our classes love having the variety and especially enjoy the farm truck, pirate ship and rocket!
Each mode of transport has a full page ten frame mat, number flashcards, a set of small ten frames, a page of four ten frames and ‘jump off’ cards for games. There are 8 different transport themes which are listed below.
These mats can be used for many activities – whole class instruction, games and practising concepts during maths centers. The rocket is a vertical frame, perfect for addition problems and teaching the necessary strategies. The lorry is the only twenty frame, great for working on the teens and place value concepts.
Included in this pack are ideas for games and activities – please see the preview
The 8 transport themes are:
Bus – where is the bus going? To the movies, the beach, the mall or school? How many people are at the bus stops and who are they?
Fire truck – get the firemen on and race to the fire with your engines blaring! Or is a cat stuck up a tree?
Plane – soar into the sky and away on a super fun holiday. Have all the passengers remembered their luggage? Is Grandma on the plane and did Uncle John get to the airport on time?
Farm truck – which farm animals are on the truck today? What farm jobs need to be done? The cows need feeding and the wheat needs cutting
Pirate ship – aargh me hearties! What is Captain Blackbeard and his crew getting up to now? Sail the seas with the pirates telling wild stories as the crew get up to mischief!
Train – toot, toot as you race along the tracks! Where is the train off to? Pick up the passengers and take them on a journey
Rocket – 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 BLAST OFF into the universe! Which planets are the astronauts visiting? Maybe they will explore the moon or discover a new planet together. The rocket is a vertical ten frame, excellent for addition practise
The Lorry – piled high with important goods going to the shops? This is a twenty frame for practising tens and ones – making the teens and learning about place value concepts
