Addition Ten Frame Number Line Directions:
Turn number cards 1-10 face down. Pull a card and ask students to create an addition problem that equals the sum of the number card you picked from the number cards stack. Once students have created their addition sentence, allow them to share their answer and EXPLAIN how they got their answer.
Subtraction Ten Frame Number Line Directions:
Turn subtraction cards face down. Pull a card and read the equation. NOTE: It is very important that you remind students to represent only the BIGGEST number in the subtraction equation. Also, when they start taking away, they MUST start taking away from the BIGGEST number and continue down until they have taken off the correct number of cubes/ counters. Example: 9-5=4. The student should put cubes/counts under numbers 9 down to 1 and take away 5 (beginning at 9). By doing it this way, the student will see his/her answer every time.
