Subitizing, or recognizing a number of objects quickly without counting, plays an important role in early number sense. Students learn to build flexibility with numbers.
This word document has 28 ten frames representing numbers 1-10. Teachers can print them onto card stock and put them on a ring to use during warm ups or math stations.
Teachers can show the ten frame for about 3-5 seconds. Then ask students how many dots they saw and most importantly how did they see it.
Students will have fun and build number sense.
