A eye catching PowerPoint that contains exercises for figurative/literal language, simile, metaphor, personification, alliteration, onomatopoeia, hyperbole, pun, euphemism, imagery, and oxymoron (pptx and pdf.). There is also three quizzes included (.docx and .pdf).
This unit should take approximately three weeks: one slide per day with a quiz every 3-4 days. Each slide should be prefaced with a short teacher explanation or review of the figurative device. I give students about 5 minutes to work most days before reviewing as a class or collecting. There are three quizzes included. The first is for Days 1-3, the second for days 4-7, and the final for days 8-11.
