This activity has two parts to it. The first part is composed of numbered flower pots with problems like '10 more than 54' or '1 less than 45'. Students draw a card, figure out the answer, and write it on the enclosed recording sheet. The second part is a game. This consists of a gameboard that has ten more at the bottom, ten less at the top, one more on the right, and one less on the left. There are cards with a cat holding a red square. In the square is a number. This fits into the middle of the gameboard. Students scatter out the answer cards that are yellow squares with Thing 2. Students have to find the correct '10 more', 10 less', '1 more', and '1 less' to go around the gameboard with the cat in the middle. Looking at the thumbnails will give you a better picture of the game pieces (red squares with a cat) and answer cards (yellow squares with Thing 2). I also provided a blank sheet of game pieces and answer cards for you customize. The game is a great way to do an informal assessment while walking around your center groups.
